Troubleshooting Common Scanning Issues
General, independent guidance for common scanning, installation, and update issues. For product-specific or account-specific problems, contact official support.
A scan is taking a long time
Complete scans check far more than quick scans and naturally take longer, especially on large or older drives. Closing other resource-heavy programs during a scan can help it finish faster.
Installation fails or hangs
Try running the installer as an administrator, temporarily disable conflicting security software during installation only, and confirm you downloaded the installer from the official source.
Conflicts with a primary antivirus program
Running two full real-time security engines simultaneously can sometimes cause performance issues or false conflicts. Consider using one tool for real-time protection and the other for occasional manual scans instead.
Definitions won't update
Check your internet connection, confirm the program has permission through any firewall, and try manually triggering an update from within the application's settings.
A scan result looks like a false positive
Research the specific flagged item before assuming it's definitely a threat — legitimate files are occasionally flagged incorrectly. When in doubt, look up the exact file name rather than removing it blindly.
Scheduled scan didn't run
Confirm the computer was on and not in sleep mode at the scheduled time, and check the schedule settings to make sure the time and recurrence are configured as expected.
Quarantine is taking up space
Quarantined items are generally still stored (in a neutralized form) rather than fully deleted; check your quarantine settings for an option to permanently delete old, reviewed items.
Unsure whether a pop-up or renewal notice is legitimate
Be cautious of unexpected pop-ups or emails pushing an urgent purchase. When in doubt, go directly to the official website rather than clicking a link in an unexpected message.
